Christmas is fast approaching but there won’t be much festive joy between Jose and his bitterest rival, Arsene Wenger, this weekend. Was the manager as frosty as the weather? We bring you his press conference from earlier today…

Jose admitted he does not know if Nemanja Matic will be fit to play against Arsenal on Saturday after limping out of the midweek win at Watford. However, the boss also confirmed the Serbian will travel to the Emirates Stadium. The manager reiterated that Phil Jones is still injured following the recent international break. The boss also confirmed that fellow defender Eric Bailly is also unavailable.
Resting players vs CSKA
“I would always try to play the best possible team, even if the Champions League match was a must-win. I would forget it and go for the game one at a time and I would go for the game that is the most important game now, which is the next one. It’s difficult enough, so you must be focused and not thinking about other things.”
Taking risks at Arsenal?
“It depends what you think about risk. I think in the beginning of football, the guy that decided to say ‘defenders’ and ‘attackers’ was bad because in modern football everyone has to defend and everybody has to attack. So, for me, you can say what you want, you can analyse in the perspective you want to analyse. When we have the ball, we are going to attack with 11 players because even the goalkeeper needs to know what to do when we have the ball. When Arsenal has the ball, we are going to defend with 11 players.”
“I play a game at a time and I think it’s the way to do it. Yesterday I was watching an interesting movie: Bjorn Borg v John McEnroe. Bjorn’s coach was telling him that all the time. ‘One point at a time, think just about one point’. I tell my players to think just about the game. I always say this.”
