Team news

“Bailly and Jones – they are out, but we are okay because we have Smalling, Rojo and Lindelof. We managed to give [Zlatan] 15/20 minutes in both matches, he needs more of that, so hopefully tomorrow we play him again. Paul is still on this process where he cannot reach the fatigue limit, he cannot go more than 65/70 minutes and, with so many games consecutively, we need to protect such an important player for us.”

On Brighton

“[They are] ninth in the table, good team, difficult to beat, don’t concede many goals, a mixture of physicality, aggression with also quality and creativity. I think Chris [Hughton] [has done] a great job since he took the team a few seasons ago and we must focus on this [match]. I know that we have a good record at home, I know that we are strong at home, but the opponent is going to be difficult for us.”

On Rojo

“He played very well [on Wednesday]. We have to see how he is today and there is no more injury in the frame, but fatigue, maybe he feels a little bit. But to be honest, Zlatan returned before him, Pogba returned before him, and he was in better condition than them. He didn’t return before because, during the last period of his recovery, we had all our central-backs ready to play, so we didn’t need to push him, we gave him more time to prepare, so when he played on Wednesday, he was ready.”

Attacking intent

“[To play with] more ambition than we do at home I think is quite difficult. I don’t know who is more ambitious than us. We played against Newcastle with Pogba, Rashford, Martial, Mata, Lukaku. And the full-backs are not full-backs – [Antonio] Valencia and Ashley Young. Everybody knows that they are wingers, not full-backs.”
